Brief Information of the eyewitness and the interview situation

I retired from KPT service in 1983, used to be a young man in 1945 but not employed at that time, probably studying in school. I lived and studied at Baba Bit Island (an island in suburbs of Karachi).

Interview result (text of the interview: Purely descriptive)

It was night time when earthquake happened and water/ waves arrived around 4 or 5 a.m. Earthquake was very strong and no one could stand up on feet. After the earthquake fire was seen coming out of Millan Mountain. First shock of the earthquake was felt around 3 a.m. but aftershocks continued till 12 in the noon. Tsunami wave arrive around 5 a.m. and inundated all area for at least one hour. Around 100 houses were damaged mostly built of Mud or Matting. There were around 800-900 single room huts and Kaachi and Baloch people were living in this area. Houses located on comparatively high ground were safe whereas those in low lying area were drowned and swept away. I remember very huge two waves hit the area, don’t remember if there were more.
