Brief Information of the eyewitness and the interview situation

I was a kid in 1945 and living in Ormara. The storm took lives of my sister “ Laigi” who got married five months before died along with uncle and two cousins named Qadri and Swali. They were trapped under the rubble of my house which was made of mud and stones. I t was night and we all were sleeping when the house was damaged by the earthquake. My grandfather always scared used to say “do not keep my children in stone built house”.

There was an earthquake; fire came out in sea which finally intruded in residential area. Big and strong wave came after the earthquake but I don’t remember how many waves hit the area. However, my husband says there were 3 waves and each higher than our house roof. My house was located where now Fisheries Office is built. Our new house was built near Master Fateh’s house
