Brief Information of the eyewitness and the interview situation

My date of birth is 15th July 1929 and I had joined government service in 1945. I remember it was early morning (before Fajr Prayer/ dawn) on 28th of Nov when an earthquake happened and made us awake.

Interview result (text of the interview: Purely descriptive)

My father had four wives and 21 children. Our house was made of mud brick wall and bamboo roof. It was destroyed badly and bamboos of the roof were striking with each other. Around 5 a.m. we saw fire from East Side Mountain and extra ordinary high waves rose up in the sea. A first wave was high enough to cover the first/ lower part of the mountain and could reach up to Tomb of the Saint (Naik Noor Mohammad). Brick houses were destroyed by the earthquake and wooden houses; swept away by waves. We could see floating houses (debris) coming to us. Third wave was the strongest and after that my father called us to visit area for what had happened. Two children, two women Papun and Gori, three men named Hashim, Dayya and Sakhi Dad died and we collected their bodies at one place. Three dead bodies were found later the day. Around 400-450 Hindus and 200-250 Aga Khan’s community persons were also living in Ormara at that time. Jamaat Khana (religious building of Aga Khan Community) was also destroyed. Wood brought on 4 camels was used to burn dead bodies of Hindu victims.
