Brief Information of the eyewitness and the interview situation

When he was asked about the 1945 Tsunami, he said “it may be 11th or 12th month of the year. The 1945 tsunami hit Ormara and Pasni severely and most casualties were there, on the other side of the coast. At Sur, I remember that at 4, O clock in the morning, a wave came and strike the Sur area. The water receded around 50-60 meters before Tsunami. I remember, there were three waves each coming with an interval of half an hour. The height of waves was up two to three meter. Some small boats were brought here to our house, and our houses were submerged up to 1/2 meter.”

Interview result (text of the interview: Purely descriptive)

When the 1st wave retreated, I rushed towards sea again, but the situation was very frightening and I ran back to my house, then other wave came. It was really un-usual phenomena, never seen before or after. There was no causality at Sur, and the water was standing here on roads in houses about half meter. He said Qalhat was also affected by the Tsunami, less severe than Sur. He remembered number of storm coming in the region at the interval of every 10-15 years. He added “We heard that a 15 meter high mountain was emerged near Pasni & Ormara and causalities were high there but could not say how many persons killed there.”
