The growing sophistication of the Mauritian way of life, infrastructure and economy makes them increasingly vulnerable to natural hazards and human-induced disasters. Tsunamis are rare when compared to tropical cyclones or floods but the destruction they cause to society are considerable, as were the case with Indonesia (2004) and Japan (2011).
The booklet is the outcome of a unique collaborative effort. The Association pour le Developpment Durable (ADD) took the initiative for the production, the Mauritius Meteorological Services provided the funds and the University of Technology (UTM) undertook the design and graphic work.
